What is STARCOM21?
STARCOM21 is the official Illinois statewide public safety two-way radio system. This state-of-the-art digital mobile radio system is built, owned, and operated by Motorola in cooperation with the State of Illinois. It has been designed to serve state, local, and federal law enforcement agencies statewide by facilitating multi-agency communication through radio interoperability.
The new radio system in St Clair County, Illinois is also part of the STARCOM21 system. In fact, St Clair County made the first area-wide call on the STARCOM21 system on October 24, 2005. St Clair County and McLean County also had a test conversation between Belleville and Bloomington, Illinois on November 2, 2005 using the STARCOM21 system.
